Privacy Policy

Vox Manager ("the app") turns your phone into a microphone that types recognised speech into your own computer over your local network. We designed it to keep your data on your devices.

What the app does with your data

• Microphone audio. When you tap to dictate, the app captures audio and passes it to your device's built-in speech-recognition service to convert it to text. The app does not record audio to files and does not send audio to us.
• Speech recognition. Recognition is performed by the speech service on your device (for example, Google's speech recognition). That service processes the audio under its own privacy policy, which may include sending audio to the service provider for processing. Vox Manager has no control over and no access to that processing.
• Recognised text. The resulting text is sent only to the computer you paired with, over your local Wi-Fi network, so it can be typed into the active window. It is not sent to us or to any third party.
• Pairing data. The app stores, on your device only, the information needed to reconnect to your PC (a shared key, the PC's name and last-known address). Pairing is encrypted: the key is delivered to your phone in encrypted form, so it is not exposed on your network during setup.

What we collect

Nothing. Vox Manager has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no servers that receive your data. We do not collect, store, sell, or share any personal information.

The website

This section is about voxmanager.com, not about the app; the two are separate and nothing described here touches what you dictate.

The website records anonymous visit statistics (which pages were opened, the referring site, approximate country, browser and device type) using self-hosted analytics running on our own server. The data is not shared with an advertising network and is not used to build a profile of you. If you leave your address in the Pro waiting-list form, we store that address so we can write to you once, when Pro is ready.

Permissions and why

• Microphone. To hear what you dictate. Nothing is recorded to a file.
• Network access. To find your PC on the local network and send it the text.
• Running while you dictate. So recognition does not stop when you switch away from the app or the screen dims.

Children

Vox Manager is a general-purpose productivity tool and is not directed at children.

Changes

We may update this policy; the "last updated" date will change accordingly.

Open an issue at https://github.com/dklymentiev/voxmanager/issues. There is no mailing address to give: the project runs no mail server and no support inbox, and publishing one we do not read would be worse than saying so.
